Nuclear Medicine Department at Girona Clinic: Molecular Imaging and Precise Treatment

Contact

At the Nuclear Medicine Service of Clínica Girona, we use small amounts of radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) to obtain functional and molecular images of the inside of the body, as well as for the treatment of certain diseases. This specialty allows us to evaluate the functioning of organs and tissues at the cellular level, providing crucial information for early diagnosis, staging and monitoring of various pathologies, including cancer, heart and neurological diseases.

Unlike other imaging techniques that mainly show organ structure, nuclear medicine allows us to observe How organs and tissues work. Radiopharmaceuticals are distributed throughout the body and emit a small amount of radiation that is detected by specialised equipment, creating images that reflect metabolic activity and biological processes at a molecular level.
