Dr. Georgina Espígol Frigolé is an internist specializing in systemic autoimmune diseases with consultations in Girona and Barcelona. Her specialization focuses on systemic vasculitis, such as giant cell arteritis, and other autoimmune diseases, with a combined approach in clinical care and translational research.

Graduate in Medicine at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2000), she specialised in Internal Medicine at Hospital Clínic (2001-2006).
Practise at Clínica Girona and atHospital Clínic of Barcelona, where are member of the Autoimmune Diseases Service and a recognised researcher (R3A) at the Systemic Vasculitis Research Group of IDIBAPS (Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer).
She is an associate professor at Universitat de Barcelona, where she coordinates a module of the Master's Degree in Autoimmune Diseases, and has 121 publications with over 4,874 citations (ResearchGate, 2025). Among her notable works are studies on microscopic polyangiitis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (2024).
He has received several awards, including the “Joan Rodés” contract (2014), funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, and the IDIBAPS-Hospital Clínic 50/50 Programme contract (2020), which allows him to combine 50%% research with 50%% clinical activities. He also received Premi Fi de Residència Emili Letang (2006-2007) and a “Río Hortega” contract (2007) to further his research on vasculitis.
