Trajectory
He had led the Stroke Unit and the Neurology Department ofHospital Universitari Dr. Josep Trueta in Girona for 18 years (1986-2004), where he was also scientific director (1998-2004). Since 2004, he has been clinical director of the Department of Neuroscience at the’Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (Badalona), he was Head of the Neurology Service (2004-2016) and Centre Director (2018-2021). He currently combines private practice in Girona with stroke research atInstitut d’Investigació Germans Trias. Lead Grup d’Investigació Bàsica i Translacional en Neurociències (AGAUR) and Grupo de Investigación Neurovascular (RETICS-INVICTUS, Instituto de Salud Carlos III).

He has received awards such as the Award to the Best Research Career (Institut Català de la Salut, 2014), Excellence Award in Research (Col·legi de Metges de Catalunya, 2005), Pioneering Award (Society for Vascular and Interventional Neurology), Premio Científico Ictus 2012 (Sociedad Española de Neurología) and the XVII Award for Clinical Research (Pfizer Foundation, 2016). He is an elected member of the American Neurological Association (2004) and has been a member of the board of the European Stroke Organisation.
