“Robotic MRI-guided biopsy. Effective diagnosis of prostate cancer” is the oral presentation given by Sònia Sala, Albert Parals, Montse Planas and Mara Rodrigo, from the MRI Department of Clínica Girona, at the 35th National Congress of the SERAM, which will take place virtually from 19th to 26th May.
The aim of the communication is to publicise the innovative method for precisely locating and diagnosing prostate cancer (CaP) using magnetic resonance imaging-guided biopsy with a robotic device, and to demonstrate that this is the most reliable way to direct the needle accurately towards the suspicious lesion, reducing the number of biopsies, avoiding complications, and overcoming the limitations of ultrasound-guided biopsy.
This communication was awarded a grant from the Horror for participation in the congress.
Ressonància Girona It is a pioneer in this field and is the only centre in all of Spain that performs magnetic resonance imaging-guided robotic prostate biopsies.
The SERAM national congress is held biennially and brings together professionals from different areas of radiology such as magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. This congress was scheduled to take place in Zaragoza in May 2020, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ultimately taking an online format.
