Clínica Girona actively participates in World Hand Hygiene Day and disseminates advice on the importance of handwashing among staff, patients, and visitors. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, handwashing has become a routine performed many times each day. Nevertheless, it is important not to let our guard down and, from time to time, to recall the different techniques for achieving good, safe, and effective handwashing.
A nursing team has toured all the hospitalisation wards, and other services such as the ICU, A&E, Dialysis, Admissions and Administration, to promote hand hygiene and observe if it is being carried out correctly, thanks to a special fluorescent gel and an educational box equipped with ultraviolet light, which reveals the areas of the hands that may have been missed by the gel.
Clínica Girona has had alcohol-based solution dispensers throughout its facilities for many years, to ensure this hand hygiene practice is effective daily and on an everyday basis.
