• Do you have a relative with a genetic disorder or a congenital defect?
  • Are you pregnant and want to do some genetic testing on your baby to find out more information?
  • Have you had recurrent miscarriages and want to know the cause?
  • Have you been diagnosed with an illness and do you think it might have a genetic component?
  • Are you thinking of starting a family and want to minimise the risk of passing on any genetic conditions?

Genetic counselling services can help you resolve these doubts. This service focuses on providing information to all those individuals or families who suspect or suffer from some hereditary disease. As well as, offering advice on all available genetic tests in order to minimise the risk of suffering from these diseases in the future or in your offspring.

The main objectives of a genetic counselling consultation are:

  • To attend to the needs and concerns of patients suspected of having a genetic condition.
  • Gather all clinical information and family history.
  • Assess personal and reproductive risks. Inform about available tests, their scope, and indicate the most appropriate test.
  • Explain the results and possible implications, both for your own monitoring and for family members.

This new service includes patients from any specialty, as long as there is a suspicion of a genetic condition. Consultations will be carried out by geneticist Dr. Nina Bosch, who specialises in genetic counselling at the GIROFIV clinics located on the 2nd floor of Clínica Girona.
