Dr Elisabet Jubert, a dermatologist at Clínica Girona, gave a talk in the Carles Espígol auditorium at the centre, titled “How to Care for Our Skin”. In it, she shared practical advice on how to identify products with scientific evidence and, by answering attendees' questions, clarified doubts regarding our relationship with the sun.

After the welcome by the Manager of Clínica Girona, Miquel Grabulosa, Dr. Jubert explained that “skin ages sooner than we think”, highlighting the four basic pillars for caring for the body's largest organ: hygiene, hydration, the use of topical treatments, and photoprotection. In any case, she also underscored the importance for the skin of good nutrition, engaging in strength-based physical exercise two or three times a week, and sleeping well.

Concurrently, Dr. Jubert has also sought to debunk various myths circulating about the skin, denying that washing one's hair every day is detrimental, highlighting that not everyone needs to use moisturiser, clarifying that “age spots that appear with age are not actually caused by age, but by the action of solar radiation,” and assuring that sunscreens are not responsible for low Vitamin D levels.

Finally, the dermatologist advised to “spot misleading advertising and buy wisely, avoiding fear”, stressing that it is important not to become obsessed to avoid falling into “cosmetorexia”, as the most suitable approach is to use “few products, but in the right quantities”. In any case, she pointed out that there must be a sunscreen for the face and a different one for the body, and clarified that "what is natural is not always the safest".
