The eighth edition of the Oncotrail it was held last Saturday, 2nd October, after it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Another year, the team Oftalis – Club Trail Running Girona will participate in this charity race organised by the Oncolliga Girona Foundation together with the Palafrugell Excursionist Group and the Palafrugell Athletics Club. It is a 100 km race that is walked or run in teams, with the aim of the initiative being to raise funds to improve the quality of life for cancer patients in the Girona regions and their families.
This edition of the Oncotrail has seen a total of 275 teams and more than 500 volunteers participate, raising close to €345,000 and increasingly establishing itself as one of the most mythical and recognised races in the province of Girona.
The’Institute of Clinical Ophthalmology Girona (IOCG) collaborates each year with Club Trail Running Girona Fent possible the participation of the girls’ team Oftalis – Club Trail Running Girona. In this edition, after sweating, suffering, and enjoying the 100 km, they managed to position themselves in 11th place in the general classification and 1st place in the women's team with a total time of 11h and 07m.
From the IOCG, we would like to thank the participation and effort of the entire Club Trail Running Girona team and express our excitement at being able to collaborate on an initiative like this which, in addition to its charitable aspect, brings together sport, a great atmosphere, and the spectacular scenery of the Costa Brava.
