The lack of aluminium to complete the lower part of the facade is the main reason for the postponement.
According to the construction company's communication to the Girona Clinic Directorate yesterday, the aluminium components needed to finish the enclosure of the lower part of the facade have not arrived on the scheduled dates. The reason for this is the supply chain crisis affecting the construction sector, which is widespread globally.
In light of these exceptional circumstances, the management of Clínica Girona has decided to postpone the move to the new premises, which was scheduled for the upcoming Immacolata long weekend.
Work is progressing according to the planned schedule for fitting out the interior spaces, and the equipment testing timetable is being followed. Once the construction company delivers the completed works, Clínica Girona will schedule new dates for the relocation. No delivery date can be guaranteed at this time.
According to Clínica Girona manager, Carles Espígol: “We held out until the last moment trying to maintain the planned dates, with a great effort from everyone, but in the end the lack of materials has led us to make this decision”.
The activity is not affected
Meanwhile, Clínica Girona will continue to operate as normal at its current location. This delay will not affect the centre's patient care activities, as practically all the new Clinic's equipment is new.
The management regrets this delay, which was entirely unintentional, and thanks you for the shows of support received in recent months in anticipation of the imminent opening of the new headquarters.
The new Girona Clinic, located at Ctra. Barcelona 204-206, triples the current surface area (increasing from 13,000 m² to 41,000 m²). The new centre, which dignifies the southern entrance to Girona, incorporates the most innovative technologies and will be fully accessible. The project, built according to maximum sustainability criteria, has a budget of approximately 65 million euros.
